Rackard League Camogie Final 2000/2001

Bunclody celebrates the Rackard League Camogie Final win

Bunclody 3-2, Cloughbán 1-2.

The games that we played coming up to the final were against Oilgate, Blackwater, Cloughbán, Gorey and Kennedy Park. Then the final day came where we had to play Cloughbán again.
All the girls from Bunclody met up outside our local library. All the girls from Kilmyshall met outside their school. We got a bus to Blackwater where we were playing. The pitch was a good pitch.
In the dressing room Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Byrne, Mrs. Jordan and Miss Dunne talk to us. They are our trainers. When the team went out we all realised that we had loads and loads of supporters. A supporters' bus travelled to the game and also a lot of parents came. Jack O'Brien was the referee and he was okay.

When we went out on to the pitch started practising. When the match started Ciara was in for the throw in. In the first half we scored two goals and two points. Cloughban scored one goal and two points, we played well. Then in the second half we scored another goal Cloughban scored nothing. We played well in the second half again and we had won by two goals. The people who scored from Bunclody were Lisa Doyle one point, Emer Kelly one point, Leanne Kehoe one goal, Martha Hughes one goal, Jennifer Armstrong one goal.
The team was: Emer Kelly, Sinéad Murphy, Mairéad Byrne, Noeleen Carton, Michelle Armstrong, Lisa Doyle, Ciara Nolan, Sarah Carroll, Martha Hughes, Eileen Roberts, Leanne Kehoe, Niamh Walsh, (subs) Jennifer Armstrong, Michelle Nolan, Amanda Tobin, Grace Dunbar, Katie Doran, Orla Redmond, Amy Roche, Aimée Murphy-Atkinson and Kathleen Connors. Our team captain was Emer Kelly. After the match we went to the chippers and we celebrated around the town.

The cup was silver and we all got gold medals and they were gorgeous. We are the first team in eleven years to win a Rackard League Final from Bunclody, and we are very proud of it. Lisa Doyle.
