Our Hurling Section

Our football and hurling is based on the Rackard League. Nicky Rackard was a great hurler for Wexford. He died many years ago and so we play this Rackard League to remember Nicky. He lived in Bunclody.

Our school has one acre of hurling ground for us to train on. We train with a local school called Kilmyshall. They usually come down to us to train but we also go to their pitch. Our coaches are Mr. Martin, (who is in Italy this year on career break) Mr. Roberts and Mr. O'Brien. Our coaches are very good - they get us fit and ready for all our matches.

In 1998 we won the Rackard League Roinn 1 Hurling Final and we got lovely medals and a big cup. We got a meal which our club Halfway-House/Bunclody paid for. In 1999 we were beaten in the Rackard League Football Final and our girls reached the Final of the Rackard League Camogie Final. They won this years final. You can read about it by going to the Camogie section or by clicking here. In 2000 we reached the final of the football and the quarter finals of the hurling. Our local club has good hurlers and camogie players today who played Rackard League hurling and camogie years ago.
