Difficulty Level: Extremely Treacherous (Puzzle Identification Number: 9C)

A cycling race is taking place in Bunclody. On the first day the cyclists cover two fifths of the total distance. The next day they cover one third of what is left. The following day they cover one quarter of the remainder and on the fourth day half of the remaining distance. The cyclists then have 12 km left. How far have they travelled?
