(Larry is on holidays with Mayfield State School, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia)

27/4/00 Dear
Friends in Ireland, Claude's departure has been delayed few days. Now his bags
are packed and he is almost ready to go. He will be leaving in a few days on the 2nd
May he will fly out of Brisbane. He will come to you by airmail. He is so
excited.
The children are excited about Larry. They will certainly look after him. They
are wondering whose birthday is next in the class, so they can be the first one to ask
Larry to their birthday party. He will certainly learn a lot here. Good
things of course. Australia is a vast and unique country and Larry will learning a lot,
meeting lots of people and of course having lots of fun too.
Take care, Marie and 5/6L Students Hi folks back at home in Ireland,
5/5/00 Dear friends in Ireland,
Larry has arrived. I have been sending emails to you for two days and they have been
returning. I'm trying to trace where the problem is. However Larry is fine. He loves it
here. He has already done an Irish jig on the teacher's desk and he thinks Australia is a
very warm country. He couldn't believe it was autumn, and soon winter.
The children all cheered when we opened him. They love his happy smile. We have all taken
turns to take him home with strict instructions to look after him. I have no doubt they
will do this. Larry has already attended a Japanese lesson, a physical culture lesson.
Today he went to library and music.
I have had a wonderful time at the
Japanese morning. My Australian teacher is trying to catch up on all her emails. Certainly
when the computers in our room get fixed the children and I will be sending from down
there. However, until that happens we use the one in Mr Huasler's room, but often we can
only get to it when there is a big lunch, little lunch, or after school.
I'm sending you an attachment. In the photo, I am being a very good boy and listening very
well to the Japanese teachers.
Until then I send my love.
Larry from sunny Queensland, where it is beautiful one day and perfect
the next.

Dear friends in Wexford,
Just sending myself with my new Japanese friends. I am enjoying myself. Mrs L'Estrange
said to say that we can only send on photo per email, so I am allowed to send a couple of
emails.
Look after yourselves. Having fun.
Sayonara
Larry

Hi friends in 4th class,
Larry wanted to tell you that he had a great time at the Japanese morning. He is pictured
with some of his friends and his Australian classroom teacher.
Hope you are all well and happy. We hope Claude has arrived. If not he must be very close
as he was posted nearly 7 days ago.
Love, Larry, his new friends and teacher.
Larry is well and happy. He
has been visiting peoples places and meeting lots of people. He thinks we are a friendly
bunch. He eats up all his dinner (especially cabbabe and parsnip) and warms us with his
friendly grin. He has had Japanese lessons, music lessons and today he attended our
Japanese day, where we do all sorts of activities, play with Japanese toys. He had a
great time making a Samurai hat, which he wore and made everyone laugh.

I'll send you a photo of him. Take care. I'll keep pushing to have my classroom
computers fixed. Until thin, I'll try to use any spare ones I can find when the children
go home. At the moment this is a good one and Mr Hausler doesn't mind if you
return any emails and ask any questions using this address.
Lots of love and a hearty grin from Larry
