My grand dad played a lot of sports. Bunclody were the 1968 Junior Football Final champions and then 1976 Intermediate Football Final champions. In 1982 they won the Senior Football Championship and also the League Football Championship. In 1985 they were the Senior Football champions and then in 1993 the Intermediate Hurling Champions. My grand daddy played in the Leinster semi final in 1969 against OFFALY in the football. He won three Roadstone county hurling finals and he won one ALL IRELAND hurling master county title. He played for 40 years in the goal for the Half-Way-House Bunclody. He was wing back and full back also in hurling . He also played with his four sons in hurling and won two county titles with his sons on the same team. (Kathleen 6th and Michael 4th)

Hurling is an important sport for Travellers in Bunclody

My Daddy, Myles O’ Connor played for Wexford Senior team in 1988-1989. He played centre forward on the hurling team. He played centre back for the County Junior team for 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995. He played for the Wexford Masters hurling team for three years. He played at full forward. They were beaten by Kilkenny in the All-Ireland in 1997. He won two Leinster junior hurling medals and League Final Senior Hurling medals in Division 2.

At Wexford club level he won three county Intermediate Hurling medals playing centre forward. He won two Senior Football medals between 1992 and 1995 playing centre forward with the club in Bunclody. All our family play hurling and my brothers play for Bunclody. My sister Ann-Marie played camogie for Wexford also.
