You are here Our Science & Maths Work Investigating Slopes

Aim: to investigate how the slope of a ramp affects the distance a marble will roll
Materials: marble, slope, Blutac, ruler, books
Method: Make a slope by sticking a cardboard ramp book with Blutac. Place a marble at the top of the slope and see how far it rolls.
Measure the distance and record it. Repeat the procedure adding one more book at a time.
Record the distances every time.
Results: At the beginning the marble rolled further and further in distance but after a certain point the slope got too high.
The distance the marble travelled became less again.
